This clinic did not take our online survey. Our information is based on a patient feedback from a conversation with Dr. Petrus Krog: “This is an ethical issue that is your choice. If it is an elective situation or it can be postponed, that is okay. In the case of an emergency or accident, blood typing is done immediately, and if the blood donor is not available, then it is OK to override your wishes in order to save your life. You should be open to the possibility of having universal blood in these cases. Your wishes should be stipulated in your will as well as in the Green Sleeve.”
Bottom line this means it is possible to choose the blood donor, but you have to specifically ask for it.
